SEND Secondary Teacher
£100 - £130 per day
As a SEND Secondary Teacher, you will work with children between the ages of 11 and 16, who require additional one to one support and specialist teaching. The needs of the children you will be teaching will vary and everyday can bring a new challenge, but also a new joy. It is essential that you have prior experience teaching children with SEND - although this can be within a main stream school. You will not only teach the children, adapting your teaching style and technique to get the most out of the pupils, but you will look after a small collection of support staff who will work alongside you. You must feel confident being able to support a lead this small staff team, and it is essential you can create strong connections with both staff and students, allowing for clear structure and understanding throughout each of the lessons.
While working as a SEND Secondary Teacher for Vision for Education, you will be placed in a local SEND Secondary School. The school employs several staff members to help provide the appropriate care the children require, and they are looking for a SEND Secondary Teacher to join the team. You will work with varying needs and abilities, whilst also working on the class behaviour and helping ensure those who are acting out, have as little disruption on the rest of the class as possible. Of course, it is important that the children also reach their personal academic progress milestones and helping them reach this point will vary widely from child to child.
To be considered for the SEND Secondary Teacher position, you will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Willing to plan, deliver and mark work from lessons if required
- Feel comfortable adapting teaching style to allow for pupil's specific needs and abilities
- Have a passion for delivering exciting and interesting lessons, whilst controlling the behaviour of the class effectively, keeping an eye on disruptive pupils and dealing with the efficiently.
Vision for Education is committed to safeguarding children and young people. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
