Technician Food and Nutrition Laboratories
Reference: A3930Description: The Faculty of Science & Environment, School of Biological Sciences wish to appoint a Technician to support work in the Food & Nutrition Unit. This is a fixed term part-time contract to provide maternity cover from 11/11/14 to 2/2/15 with a potential to be extended to 12/5/15. You will provide general support for practical classes and the research labs in Nutrition, Exercise & Health. Part of the role also requires ordering for the School and recording in the Agresso database.
You should be educated to a minimum of BTEC certificate or equivalent, have previous laboratory experience (preferably in a similar subject area), experience of purchasing and ideally competency in food hygiene standards.
You will need to be able to work on your own initiative but also be a team player when required. Computer literacy and an understanding of basic software packages will be essential, and a working knowledge of database use will be highly desirable, as this is a significant aspect of this post.
This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week as a job share on Mondays and Tuesdays on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity cover.
