Here at N Brown, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our squad! We are looking for a professional MI Data Engineer to bring in-depth technical data modelling knowledge and strong interpersonal communication skills to the team.
You will have a large amount of autonomy to do what is needed to succeed, a clear and meaningful purpose, and backing to demonstrate mastery of the trade. You will also have the support and freedom to employ industry-leading engineering practices, with a clear focus on customer needs.
You are integral to the success of a data driven business. You will work in a cross-functional Agile team, transforming operational data into transformed models optimised for reporting and analytics purposes and seeing changes through into production. You will be working within a cloud-based environment and therefore experience of cloud technologies is preferred.
By delivering quality data that is reliable, trustworthy and highly available you will be confident that with each release the codebase will perform to the highest quality standards. During every stage of development, you will focus on data security, governance and performance. You will not be afraid to challenge ideas and opinions to avoid pitfalls and inefficient MI solutions.
The successful Data Engineer will:
Be a data modelling expert and have a deep hands-on knowledge of building data models / structures for reporting solutions, data engineering patterns and practices and data architecture principles.
Have experience of working with and administering tools such as PowerBI, Business Objects, Qlik, Excel etc.
Be highly motivated, driven and adaptable.
Be passionate about learning.
Have experience providing mentorship for team members.
Leverage the right tools for the right job to deliver testable, maintainable and modern data solutions
Be familiar with Pair Programming and have an interest in helping to grow the skills of your fellow engineers.
Lead the implementation and continuous improvements of a cloud data platform and data architecture, optimised for reporting and analytics.
Apply extensive knowledge of AWS services such as S3, IAM, Cloudwatch, EC2, Glue, Athena, Lambda and Kinesis etc.
Experience with data orchestration platforms, preferably Airflow.
Define the right data architecture and source(s) that delivers high quality certified data to users can digest effortlessly.
Promote standards and best practices in data governance through your e2e data solutions
Script for both data and file processing, . SQL, Python, Shell, Perl.
Contribute effortlessly within an Agile, DevOps process methodology to CI/CD automation, Version Control (Git) & Test-Driven Development.
