Commissioning Manager - Public Health
Exeter, Devon, England
Permanent (Full time)
Opportunities to combine your interest in public health and commissioning.
With responsibility for services including health visiting, school nursing, sexual health, substance misuse and health improvement there is never a dull moment in the commissioning team in public health.
Working with colleagues from across the Council, as well as in the NHS and the voluntary and community sector, and supported by public health consultants and fantastic support officers, you will need to show:
* An interest in and enthusiasm for public health services;
* An understanding of commissioning
And you will need to demonstrate that you know how to:
* Assess demand for services;
* Develop innovative approaches to meeting need;
* Manage the performance of commissioned services.
To be successful you will need to be:
* Creative, inquisitive, tenacious and able to form good relationships with partners
You will have a varied portfolio and will need to be willing to acquire a sufficient level of subject matter expertise to be credible with a range of stakeholders, including providers, colleagues and Councillors.
This is a very exciting time to be joining public health commissioning. We’re starting to assess the impact of the pandemic on people’s lives and we’re at a point in the commissioning cycle when we need to ask ourselves important questions about future priorities and the strategic choices we will have to make. And at the same time, we need to stay focussed on continuously improving the quality and effectiveness of the services we have.
There are three posts available – a permanent T grade (Ref. 0966), a permanent H grade and an 18-month fixed term G grade (Ref. 0970) – and the exact span of responsibilities will be agreed with the successful candidates based on their skills, knowledge and interest.
This job is located at County Hall, Topsham Road, Exeter but currently remote working.
For an informal discussion about any of these posts please contact Dominic Hudson – (phone number removed)
