Senior Maintenance Operative

An exciting position has become available for a full-time Senior Maintenance Operative based in an Intentional Community in Hampshire. The successful candidate will work hours per week and earn £ per hour.

The candidate will be experienced, multi skilled ,proactive, competent and alert, with a keen eye for detail, who works efficiently alone or as part of team. A friendly and approachable manner is essential with the ability to multi task and to prioritise workloads in order to meet strict deadlines

Role Requirements

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent training/qualification such as CSCS card, within the relevant sectors

Experience of working within the repairs and maintenance sector.
Practical skills to undertake a variety of work which will involve basic electrics, carpentry and plumbing
Experience and understanding of TMVs, emergency lighting, fire doors, statutory compliance testing such as legionella is highly desirable.
Understanding of the legal, regulatory, health and safety, and codes of best practice compliance requirements of a care provider’s environment and all of its major plant and equipment
Technical knowledge of domestic & commercial buildings, major plant and equipment within a care provider’s environment (plant room, laundry, catering, fire alarm, etc.)
Good IT skills, literacy and numeracy to maintain records
Ability to take instruction and plan and organise own workload, maintain high quality output and achieve set deadlines and targets.
To be open and flexible to support the ethos and values of an intentional community life.

Role Responsibilities

To carry out maintenance duties as directed by the Estates and Maintenance Manager in respect of all reactive, planned and general maintenance for the buildings within The Lantern Community Estates.
Maintain properties to a high standard working independently or as part of a team.
To assist the Estates and Maintenance Manager with any associated project work.
To assist in any associated ground works and outdoor works as required.
To be included in the on call out of hours’ rota and respond to emergency call outs.
To coordinate efforts across maintenance staff to make sure all tasks are completed in a timely fashion
To ensure compliance, H&S and quality and best value solutions at all times.

Our client is home to 51 resident Companions (adults with diverse abilities) and when permitting they offer meaningful day opportunities during the week, across their 10 Workshops.
