Lecturer/SL in Post Grad education (Phys Assoc Studies) with Clinical Practice
Reference: A4085Description: Plymouth University is launching a new Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate Studies in January 2015, led by Professor Alison Carr, Director of Postgraduate Education and Medical Director for the PgDip Physician Associate studies. PU PSMD will be the fifth university in the UK to offer the programme, which is being developed using many of the teaching modalities of the BM BS and BDS programmes. The initial intake will be 20 students.
You will work in postgraduate education in PU PSMD and clinically as a Physician Associate in either Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust or South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Educationally, you will have responsibility for the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials and the delivery across the modules in the PgDip Physician Associate studies.
The post will be a joint appointment between PU PSMD and the Acute Trust. There are no Physician Associates in Plymouth or Torbay hospitals at the moment and some of the purpose of the clinical post is to develop the role of the Physician Associate in the hospital environment, so that when the Physician Associates qualify they are able to work successfully in these hospitals, as well as in primary care.
In order to be considered for the position candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate Studies or equivalent
- Clinically active as a Physician Associate in a hospital or community setting
- MSc (desirable for the Lecturer post and essential for the Senior Lecturer post), MPhil, ResM, PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to medicine, dentistry, healthcare or education
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (or able to achieve within 12 months of appointment)
This is a full-time post working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. The post will be based on our North Campus, Tamar Science Park.
Plymouth University is committed to an inclusive culture and respecting diversity, and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
The University holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Award which recognises commitment to advancing women's career in STEMM academia.
