Lecturer in Clinical Psychology
Reference: A4076Description: The School of Psychology at Plymouth University is looking to appoint a fixed term lecturer in the Doctorate Programme in Clinical Psychology to take up appointment on March 1st. 2015, initially for a fixed term period of 18 months at 0.6 F.T.E (3 days/week).
The Clinical Psychology Programme in Plymouth is nationally recognised for its innovative approach to teaching and learning, training for values based practice, and for its critical approach to psychological knowledge. It strives to deliver high quality clinical training in the South West Peninsula Region. Service receiver participation is fully embedded in all aspects of programme delivery. The programme is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council and accredited by the British Psychological Society. It has an annual intake of approximately 14 trainees.
You will contribute to the work of the Clinical Tutor team, managing placement co-ordination and trainee appraisal. You will also be responsible for leading the academic component of either the first or second year depending on your field of expertise. This involves planning the delivery of teaching and overseeing curriculum development. You will join a team of nine part-time staff, all fully committed to training professionals to meet the changing needs of health and social care services.
There is a strong research culture within the Programme and across the School of Psychology, which hosts the Centre for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour . The School's research profile places it in the top third of psychology departments in the UK, with 85% of its research activity rated at international standard. Programmes within the School include a BSc (Hons) Psychology, MPsych Advanced Psychology (pathways in cognitive neuroscience, clinical, and behaviour change) and MSc Psychological Research.
This exciting new post offers the opportunity to develop qualifications in teaching and learning, to contribute to supervisor training and CPD, and to expand interests in research as appropriate. You should be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as Practitioner Psychologists and have experience of supervising trainees and teaching at the Doctorate level.
