Autism Support Assistant Specification:
You must be an enthusiastic and committed graduate who has already held a paid or volunteer role where you supported children with SEN (Ideally Autism). It is essential for you to possess a natural passion for education and a commitment to inclusion. You will be a committed individual who can inspire young children with your energy and demonstrate strong communication skills.
About the Autism Support Assistant Role
In this Autism Support Assistant post you will be supporting a class of 7-8 pupils of KS1 age, all with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In order to progress your skills in the classroom the SLT offer extra support in the form of designated mentors, yours is likely to be the SENCO who is well established at the school. For the driven and ambitious team members within the school, a fantastic CPD programme is on offer and will be available to you too. This role gives you the opportunity to learn about every element of SEN, as you gain first-hand experience by supporting the pupils through classwork, planning provision with the SENCO and liaising with external agencies.
