Crewe, Cheshire East, England
Permanent (Full time)
I am a 28-year-old man currently residing in the Crewe area. I have a diagnosis of a Learning Disability, Autism and Epilepsy, as a result, I presents with a range of behaviours typical of those with sensory integration issues and autism. I will have 3 staff member’s with me during the day, and 2 staff members awake during the night and 1 staff member asleep. I have been in residential care and hospital settings for most of my adult life, and I am ready to live in the community with a team of staff who can help me learn new skills. My predominant form of communication is not verbal. Staff will need to be trained in using PECs to support me to make choices and to support me with my daily routine.
I need you to be;
I require you to have a good understanding of Learning Disability, Autism and Epilepsy, as these are my diagnosis. I require you to have experience working with and understanding the Positive Behavioural Support Model and use proactive strategies to effectively support me in staying safe and making the most of my opportunities within the community. I prefer a quieter and less busy environment.
At times I can present with behaviours perceived as challenging, I have developed these over time, as a way of communicating my needs.
I struggle to understand time, or how long an activity lasts -Staff supporting the use of sand timers can help me understand how long I should participate in a given activity.
