Are you an experienced Claims Handler in home insurance looking for your next opportunity? We are recruiting for a well-established company in Stevenage, initially on a 12-month maternity cover contract, however has scope to become permanent. You will be working as part of a busy, dynamic team.

  • Claims Handler - Job Overview

  • As a Claims Handler your duties will include;

  • Answer incoming calls within agreed service levels and follow the claim through to settlement, ensuring compliance with FCA regulations.
  • Ensure claims are settled in a timely and efficient manner, within agreed authority limits and service level agreements.
  • Be pro-active when dealing with claims and ensure that claimants are kept fully updated with the progress of their claim.
  • Identify and deal with any complaints in accordance with FCA regulations and take ownership to resolve any issues that may occur.
  • Identify and deal with potential fraud and ensure all relevant enquiries are made.
  • Appoint relevant suppliers and maintain professional relationships with all external providers including Loss Adjusters.
  • Take responsibility for training requirements and continued personal development through appropriate training, development and professional qualifications.
  • Proactively approach and provide suggestions to improve claims processes.
  • To undertake such other duties as your line manager may determine from time to time.

  • Claims Handler - Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven ability of handling complex household claims.
  • A self-starter with excellent organisational skills and be able to work under pressure
  • A positive pro-active approach to their work, coupled with strong negotiation and communication skills is paramount
  • Confident telephone manner
  • Be aware of FSA compliancy surrounding claims handling.
  • Be willing and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Be able to organise and prioritise own workload and to meet agreed deadlines and targets.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages including outlook, word and excel is desirable
