Right now, we are looking for an experienced Aquarium Displays Curator to join our senior team here at SEA LIFE Hunstanton.

Here at SEA LIFE Hunstanton, our love of the oceans is at the heart of everything we do. Our aquarium is home to a huge variety of animals, including Ernie our majestic green sea turtle, Asian short-clawed otters Twix & Summer, and not forgetting our resident and rescued Seals!
About the role
It's not easy recreating the beauty of the deep! That's why, as the Leader of our Animal Care Team, you'll oversee the management and development of displays, whilst building the very highest standards of display presentation and animal husbandry.
In this exciting and varied role, you will manage the day to day operation of the displays department and work alongside your colleagues locally and centrally to deliver our strategic plan for the site.
Using your creative vision and being an expert in your field, you’ll be able to deliver innovative animal displays, novel concepts and effective life support systems to ensure the continual development and innovation of our displays, giving our guests a compelling reason to visit.
Through the management, organisation, and continued development of your team, you will ensure top quality care for our amazing variety of creatures, from Humboldt Penguins to Blacktip Reef Sharks and our resident seals to our Green Sea Turtle - Ernie. You’ll also have a seal hospital to manage where we rescue, rehabilitate, and release common and grey seals on the Norfolk coast. Your processes will guarantee that all areas of our attraction constantly confirm to all current legal and company standards whilst achieving exceptional levels of customer service for all our visitors.
You will always strive to promote our amazing conservation programmes and educate our guests on marine life and the wonders of the deep, engaging our visitors through stories, passion and high quality interactive displays, much more than just what you see. You will also have full budget accountability to ensure the most efficient use of resources across all areas.
This role is Full Time and includes working a regular, fair share of weekends and bank holidays as required as well as providing emergency call out cover on a roster basis.
You’ll need to be a dynamic, confident and a self-motivated individual! You will be a strong communicator who can lead, develop, and support our displays team in creating a centre of excellence in public aquarium management, conservation, and education.
Gained through significant experience working within a senior level role in the aquarium industry, you will have a robust knowledge of aquatic animal husbandry, the operation of complex life support systems and their maintenance, managing water chemistry, aquatic animal health, acquisition, transportation, quarantining and experience in the movement of a variety of fish and invertebrates.
You will have previously demonstrated your practical ability to create spectacular displays that deliver a highly immersive visitor experience. You’ll also have a good understanding of zoo licensing regulations and some project management experience.
Ideally, you’ll have a degree level qualification in animal care, marine biology or equivalent and a valid Rescue SCUBA certification (or equivalent level) is preferred. In addition to this a strong understanding of our business requirements and how they relate to the operation of the aquarium and the displays team.
