POSITION: Production Assistant

SALARY: £16,500 to £23,000 p/a (DOE) 20% Late Shift Allowance

BENEFITS: Company Pension, Health cash back scheme after 3 month probationary period / Flexi-hour scheme, 23 days holiday + Bank Holidays

HOURS: Day shift or late shift available:

  • Day shift: Mon - Fri 8am - 4pm

  • Late shift: Mon -Weds 3.45pm -2am and Thurs 3.45pm - 12.00am

LOCATION: Hook RG27 9HX

DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a specialist Contract Electronics Manufacturer, serving world-class customers in high-reliability industries by providing a complete set of electronics design and manufacturing solutions in both printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and full box-build manufacturing.

Due to continued success the company is seeking to recruit a Production Assistant . This is a fantastic opportunity for proactive and hardworking individuals to join the busy and fast-paced Production Team.

Experience is desired however Trainee Development Programmes are available which will provide full training.

This role will cover a variety of departments and require a number of people with the below skills:

SMT:

  • Operating Surface Mount machinery and carrying out machine maintenance, as and when required.
  • Using written work instructions to assemble products to customer and IPC-J-STD-001 Class 3 specifications.
  • Setting up all necessary equipment and carrying out necessary checks.
  • Programming SMT machinery as and when required.
  • Checking production documentation.
  • Liaising with Technicians regarding Quality and Engineering department queries.

OLS:

  • Carrying out Offline Setup feeder activities e.g. setting up feeders and feeding components.
  • Labelling kits.
  • Checking production documentation.
  • Carrying out end of production flow activities e.g. stripping down of jobs.

AOI:

  • Carrying out all Automated Optical Inspection activities in line with AOI process flow.
  • Testing PCB assemblies using AOI system, in line with operating standards.
  • Identifying and reporting issues.

PCB :

  • Soldering conventional components.
  • Using written work instructions to assemble products to customer and IPC-J-STD-001 Class 3 specifications.
  • Pre-forming, inserting and cropping component leads using hand tools.
  • Incorporating modifications such as wire links.
  • Hand placing and soldering surface mount components.
  • Understanding and identifying common components / device types and value decoding.
  • Complying with all 5S activities as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST:

  • Have the ability to work to written instructions and bills of materials.
  • Have IPC certifications, or be able to work towards these.
  • Have an understanding of component identification codes or be able to work towards this.
  • Have good computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have excellent dexterity.
  • Be flexible and proactive.
  • Be able to respond to changes in demand.
  • Possess a 'can-do' attitude.
