Purpose

The role of Training Manager sits within the Planning and Logistics department of ScottishPower Renewables. Within this role you will be responsible for creating, managing delivering a technical training plan for the 5 key functions in UK Onshore O&M Field Operations Turbine & Field Operations HV, Planning & Logistics, Technical Operations, Commercial Services & The Renewables Control Centre.

You will utilise effectively to execute training plans for the O&M Department through interaction with local management, UK L&D, Spain L&D and external suppliers in order to maximise the technical & commercial benefits to be gained from upskilling & continually training the O&M workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Review and set the strategic and operational direction of all services provided through the O&M training function.
  • Collaborate and consult with key stakeholders within HR and wider Business (including international) to develop high quality, needs based, future focussed Training Programmes.
  • The role holder will develop & design new Technical & Business Training modules collaboratively with UK & IBR L&D to meet the immediate requirements & future needs of the business.
  • The role holder will act as a central coordinator bringing together individuals from across the business to deliver in full the training programme required.
  • Responsible for evaluating the external training market & developing relationships with key external training providers, particularly those with specific wind turbine component technical expertise.
  • Ongoing review and continuous improvement of key processes and procedures related to O&M training.
  • Ensure L&D team have the skills & knowledge transfer to allow high quality internal training to be delivered both in the UK & Internationally. Support UK L&D to develop internal training specifications, course content & training guides to deliver O&M training at Dealain House & other nominated UK wind farm locations.
  • Ensure Technical Training courses deliver a high standard of professionalism, expertise and places customer at heart of what they deliver.
  • Consider the future training needs of the business & support the organisational development of the Planning & Logistics team to ensure the right structure & people are in place to allow maximum benefit to be delivered from the training programme.
  • Support line manager & O&M Director with the creation of the vision, strategy and culture of training & development within SPR.

Skills and Requirements

  • Significant experience in managing internal training functions & delivery of wide scale technically complex training programmes.
  • Significant experience in Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules, working practice, supporting documentation and authorisations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Electrical & Non Electrical Authorisation process & training requirements related to the UK Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
  • Proven experience researching and identifying best practice within a technically complex industry.
  • Developed customer focus and ability to relate to/influence staff in a constructive positive informative way at all levels of an organisation.
  • Proven significant experience working through complex technical training scopes & authoring those scopes to a high standard.
  • Experience in programme or project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven record in building relationships within a large organisation across all elements of the business, broad network of contacts.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders with SPR.
  • Ability to manage a growing budget & deliver budget forecasts on a quarterly & annual basis to support ongoing training budget requests & delivery.
  • Expert ability to work with external stakeholders / training providers to create relationships that benefit the wider training programme targets significantly.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as a minimum:

  • Significant experience in managing internal training functions & delivery of wide scale technically complex training programmes.
