An experienced Software Development or Software Delivery Project Manager is required to join a global leading software provider of CRM and data management solutions who are currently embarking on a large digital and cloud transformation programme with a migration to a new cloud native platform. We are looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to drive software development projects and provide line management for a product-specific team of around 10 Engineers.

The role

As a Software Development Manager, you will responsibility for the completion of development projects and act to drive and direct projects covering that product.
You will also provide a bridge between the Product Management and Engineering teams, and to manage software developments through to release as a Software Development Manager .
Your responsibilities include working with the Product team to inform the direction of the product; leading project planning; working with the Development Leads to provide project timelines; working with the Engineering Team to provide visibility of progress and supporting released versions of the product.

This role as a Software Development Manager also has line management responsibility for several engineers. Your responsibilities include setting individuals' objectives; helping them achieve their objectives and helping with their career planning and development.
As a Software Development Manager, you will work with the Products team to:

Help formalise customer and business requirements into achievable project goals.
Plan the project timeframes and help confirm the product roadmap.
Plan the resourcing requirements to medium and long-term goals.
Help facilitate product and architecture development and design.
Produce project timelines.
Provide visibility to the wider leadership team:
Provide regular feedback and status of development
Inform product manager of progress and project-related issues impacting specification, quality, or schedule.
As a Software Development Manager, you will work with the Engineering team to:

Ensure all team deliverables are completed; to meet the requirements and agreed on timelines.
Help the Technical Lead to ensure product quality.
Drive day to day Development, QA & DevOps activities
Interact with other engineering disciplines to ensure successful project delivery.
Help the team to stay focused throughout the development cycle to mitigate risks to quality and/or project schedule.
Provide Line Management responsibilities for the engineering team members (10 individuals)
Manage and mentor developers of different levels to help meet their career goals and personal development objectives
Own the Performance Review process for direct reports.
Own the Triage and scheduling of Support Tickets
Make priority calls to maintain a realistic balance between feature development priorities and urgent customer needs.
Provide assistance in the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, motivating, and retention of the team.

Essential Experience

Commensurate industry experience.
Extensive experience leading teams to build, test, and deploy high quality, highly reliable, scalable applications, APIs, and user-interfaces in a team environment.
Experience working on product development using agile methodology.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in managing a team of Software Developers to ensure products are shipped in a timely fashion and with high-quality standards.
Demonstrated technical leadership / mentoring skills.
Experienced in the line management of developers.
Experienced in the management of external resources and programs.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Excellent work ethic, initiative, self-motivated and demonstrated ability to deliver high-value products in a team environment.
Desirable Experience

Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent qualification.
Experience working on a Cloud platform and structuring an engineering organization for a cloud-based solution.

This role is available as 100% remote working and open to anyone based in the UK. There are multiple offices across the country including South-West England and London, for candidates who prefer to work in office.
