What you will be doing

This is an exciting opportunity to join Thames Water as one of our LGV Driver Apprentices. Our Drivers are ambassadors for Thames Water out on the road so you will be responsible to ensure that our values are upheld and provide a first-class service to our customers.

You will be working alongside an experienced driver technician for the duration of your programme and will receive ongoing support from your mentor, line manager and training provider to complete your class 2 qualification and develop your experience to excel within your career at Thames Water.

We’re in the beginning of journey towards becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and increasing our fleet of 5 electric vehicles so we’re looking for someone who is passionate in joining us on this journey.

As one of our LGV apprentices you will work as part of the Logistic Management Centre (LMC) which operates a new fleet of state-of-the art Tankers with jetting capability, Potable Water Tankers, and Inventory delivery vehicles to support both reactive and planned work.

We’re looking for you to:

  • Have a real passion for this opportunity and the drive and motivation to manage your learning and working life.
  • Be focused, well organised, have excellent time management skills and the determination to succeed.?
  • Have great team working skills but also be able to work independently, putting customers at the heart of everything you do.?
  • Communicate effectively and be able to challenge when a problem arises.
  • Be a champion for Health & Safety within the workplace for both you and your colleagues, helping us maintain our great reputation.
  • Be 18 years of age or older and you must hold a full UK Driving licence.

We’re not looking for any specific experience or qualifications as this will be developed whilst in the role, we’re looking for someone who wants to get stuck in with a passion to learn.

We’re offering a salary of £18,000, 24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays and a 36-hour working week.
