Production Buyer (Mandarian Speaker)

The Role:

Production Buyer (Mandarian Speaker)

  • To deal, negotiate place and progress orders.
  • To manage a specified group of vendors with the objective of supplying parts on time.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with the vendors in order to achieve maximum flexibility and reliability.
  • Raising and issuing Purchase Orders to vendors via the workbench on a daily basis.
  • Receive acknowledgement of Purchase Orders from Vendors within 48hrs and to update delivery dates on the ERP system.
  • Proactively progress the Purchase Orders due each week.
  • Manage the communication of and expedition of all engineering changes and scheduling those changes against new and pending orders.
  • Ensure timely disposition and return of any non-conforming supplier material ensuring rapid replenishment to meet production needs.
  • All day to day procurement and administration activities of both internal and vendor communications.
  • Achieve improvements in vendor on time delivery and monitor supplier performance in key areas.
  • Coordination of shipping and freight with the Far Eastern supply chain.
  • Support of the buying team as and when required.
  • Prompt escalation of issues that cannot be resolved to the Line Manager (quality, delivery performance etc.)
  • Some occasional travel to the Far East to meet new and/or existing suppliers.
  • Occasional trade show attendance for specific commodities.

The Ideal Person:

  • Experienced production buyer fluent in English and Mandarin.
  • Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of ERP systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail of emails, purchase orders, filing, reports for example.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a ability to deal with people at all levels (internal and external).
  • Good telephone manner required with a professional attitude at all times.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise the daily workload, often in a pressurised environment.
  • Good IT skills (MS Office,Word, Excel) desirable but training provided.
  • Good housekeeping around work area and maintenance of the PO filing system.
