RIBA Facilities Requirements Engineer

Barrow, Cumbria - 12 month duration - Pay rate £ p/h PAYE basic (£ p/h including holiday pay) or £ p/h Umbrella

We are looking to recruit a RIBA Facilities Engineer to work for our defence shipbuilding client in Barrow. This role sits at the centre of our clients major drive towards creating Engineering Facilities for the future through the use of a systems engineering approach to our requirements gathering and concept development with our Project Architects and other specialist Engineers.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer:

  • Understanding our customers' challenging needs and acting as a subject matter expert; analysing, preparing and communicating these through the use of architectural methodologies
  • Supporting the development of our Requirements packages in line with the Architectural RIBA 3 lifecycle stage through workshops, presentations and direct support to other Engineering teams.
  • Taking accountability for technical work packages, presentations and documentation.
  • The provision of advice and recommendations, based on expertise and experience, to address infrastructure owner needs.
  • To draw on specialist knowledge and experience in the organisation; to maintain a network of recognised experts who can deliver expert advice in areas relevant to the organisation's current and future infrastructure needs.
  • The collaborative creation and iteration of viable specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • The elicitation, analysis, specification and validation of requirements and constraints to a level that enables effective development and operation of RIBA Stage 3.
  • Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to other engineers
  • Steering new systems development through implementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes

Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in relevant STEM subject
  • Practical knowledge of the RIBA Architectural Stages of Project Management
  • Requirements Gathering, Elicitation and Management
  • Implementing and Governing Engineering Lifecycles
  • Defining and managing System interfaces
  • Understanding of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations
  • 3rd party contract management desirable

Please note, due to the sensitive nature of the projects concerned all candidates must be capable of gaining a live UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level.

This role will operate Inside IR35.
