North Hill House School are seeking a motivated, skilled and resilient KS2/3 Teacher with experience and/or a strong interest in supporting young people on the autistic spectrum. The chosen candidate will demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to teach effectively across a range of subject areas. Music specialism would be an advantage but not essential as other subject specialisms are also considered.
You may have experience of supporting young people with severe learning difficulties but this will not be essential. You will have a flexible approach and will be able to meet the changing needs of our young people.
With the support of colleagues, you will develop the skills, confidence and experience to deal with the challenging behaviour that some of our students can, at times, exhibit. This role may involve some personal care and you must be a driver with at least 3 years driving experience. Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and emotional resilience are essential attributes. As Class Teacher, you will direct and mentor classroom support staff.
Experience of working in a SEN environment is desirable, along with knowledge of working with ASD and complex needs.
You will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated education and support staff. Full training and development will be provided along with a bespoke induction programme and the ability to network with teachers across other Priory sites.
Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger's Syndrome and associated difficulties.
The school has been specifically designed to provide a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society. Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance. The school welcomes students on a day or weekly residential basis for 38 weeks per year.
