Applications are invited for a committed and Prison-experienced Mental Health, LD or General/Adult Registered Nurse to lead the Prison Healthcare team on the beautiful Island of Guernsey , in the Channel Islands.
Please note; The States of Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale. The current Band 7 salary is up to £50,172 plus an annual bonus of £1,120, higher penalty rates; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH.
Being the only prison on the Island, the facility is equipped to hold remand and sentenced prisoners, males, females, young offenders, children and vulnerable prisoners with varying security categories, offences and sentence lengths.
The prison has accommodation to house a maximum of 134 prisoners.
The Health centre comprises a team of Band 5 and 6 Nurses led by a Band 7 Healthcare Manager.
The service operates between 07:00 - 19:15, with no night duty. The Managers hours will vary to meet the needs of the Service.
The Nursing Team shifts are three long shifts and one short shift per week. Currently rostered one weekend in four; the weekend shifts are 07:00 - 18:00 split-shift with a three hour break.
The Prison provides primary care services for prisoners, which includes initial health screens and assessments on arrival at the Prison, other healthcare services are provided in conjunction with external agencies as required.
The Prison Healthcare Manager will managing the Healthcare Department, including line management of Band 6, Band 5 and junior and administrative staff.

Person requirements :
Registered Nurse with full Adult, Learning Disabilities or Mental Health registration with the NMC
Two years post-registration Prison experience in Primary Care including taking charge the department.
