Ventus is working with a leaing technology and project developer in the tidal energy sector, on an exclusive and retained basis, to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer.
Reporting in to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be tasked with helping overcome various expected engineering challenges, as our client looks to refine its existing technology. In addition to this, they are working on larger projects, which will require significant electrical engineering input.
Principal Responsibilities
*
Input into the design of the power and auxiliary systems of the next generation of floating turbines. Systems include electrical systems up to 1000V, power generation equipment, switchgear, transformers, connection systems and cabling.

Practical engineering work in support of building of turbines including procurement, supervision of assembly & test, and commissioning of the power and auxiliary systems of the turbine
*
Assisting with electrical aspects of turbine installation, testing and operation, including hands-on offshore work
*
Working with other internal engineering departments and suppliers to design and integrate electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
*
Working to ensure compliance with DNO and other requirements and standards for grid connection
*
Management of suppliers for delivery of technical services and equipment supply
*
Supervision and inspection of equipment installation & connection
*
Supervision and co-ordination of electrical technicians.
*
When necessary, working at manufacturer and supplier’s sites on testing, integration and commissioning of electrical and electro-mechanical systems
Education and Experience
*
A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar (essential)
*
Experience at the similar level of seniority in the design, building and testing of power generation equipment and systems (essential)
*
Excellent team working and communication skills (essential)
*
A track record of practical problem solving (essential)
*
Experience with electrical systems and equipment in offshore, remote applications including subsea electrical engineering experience (desirable)
*
Experience in working in the renewables sector (desirable)
*
Training in HV switching (desirable)
*
Experience using Eplan electrical CAD software (desirable)
