Workshop Supervisor (Plant)

M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions are looking to recruit a Workshop Supervisor (Plant).

MGroup Services Plant & Fleet Solutions supports our front-line operations by providing compliant, innovative and fit-for-purpose Vehicles, Plant and Equipment. We currently provide a comprehensive fleet of over 6,500 trucks, vans and cars, together with over 15,000 items of general plant and specialist utilities equipment from our Regional Supply Depots.

As a member of the Compliance Service Centre team you will have full responsibility for the supervision of the Plant Workshop and associated activity’s

As your duties & responsibilities will be:

To supervise a team of workshop engineers, ensuring that all Plant / Tools / GE kit is maintained and prepared ready for hire to the required standard. A key aspect of this role is effective communications with the Hire team, Compliance Service Centre, management and yard teams.

Productivity

  1. Maximise workshop output through effective management of the workshop engineers, ensuring optimum Plant / Tool / GE equipment availability.

  2. Actively participating in the weekly “yard report” review to ensure that available stock levels are maintained as required.

  3. Working closely with the mobile engineers to have full access to the Plant workshop and provide support for major repairs and other works.

Cost Management

  1. Ensure that the provision of maintenance is kept within the set budgets and targets, actively contribute to cost control measures balanced against ensuring that repairs are to a high standard and meet all current regulations and SHEQ standards.

People Management

  1. Actively engage with your workforce, demonstrate strong leadership through your own actions and behaviors.

  2. Develop positive working relationships with all departments and peer’s with a “can do attitude”, a flexible approach to working is key for this role.

Quality Control and Process

  1. Ensure that all Plant / Tool / GE equipment is maintained to the highest standards, both mechanically and visually with a “right first time” attitude.

  2. Ensure that all service and inspection documentation is completed to the correct standard without deviation.

  3. Follow Standard Operating procedures and process to drive a consistent approach to working.

  4. Quality checks on all completed Plant equipment related jobs and signed off as required, update systems as required.

Safety Health Quality and Environment (SHEQ)

  1. Instill a “Safety first” culture, challenge all unsafe behavior and document as required, challenge any unsafe behavior or act.

2 Ensure that all requirements for the provision and use of PPE are followed, for all workshop staff and visitors.

  1. Ensure that Safe Systems of Work are used in line with the Risk Assessments and Method Statements contained within the safety pack.

  2. Assist with being the nominated “Plant Workshop” host for visitors to the site, including subcontractors completing work, ensure that they have signed in and understand the site rules.

  3. Ensure that all work areas are clean and tidy including the yard areas.

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification (likely to be gained in a Construction Plant environment, City & Guilds or NVQ preferred) achieved through a recognised formal training programme

Experience

Proven experience (c.10 years) in supervising Workshops.
