Howdens Joinery are looking for an Asset Manager to maintain the supply of assets to the Primary Sites and ensure purchases are in line with the budget through identifying efficiencies throughout the supply chain.

As a FTSE 250 business that is undergoing a period of exciting transformation and growth, this new role will support the Contracts Manager in managing the budget for spend on assets, identifying outlets for waste returns from the Depot network and identifying improvements for Depot asset returns.

Working as part of the logistics team, and wider third-party network, you will be an adaptive person, able to work well with others through building close working relationships in a fast paced, changing operational environment.

The Asset Manager will be influential in providing detailed information to support business change and streamline the asset sourcing process across the supply chain.

The role will involve ensuring that stock levels are at the required levels and for rolling out cost reduction initiatives in key areas including asset budget and spend.

Working with the Transport and Trade teams, you will maximise asset returns from depot and improve business wide pallet repair productivity.

You will manage the movements of waste from the sites to third party recycling centres and establish sustainable, cost effective solutions for processing the waste returned from the depot network.

An excellent communicator, you will provide an industry insight during supplier price negotiations.

Skills and Attributes

- Degree or equivalent in an operational environment with a basic level of knowledge of transport operations
- Working knowledge of supplier management, asset optimisation and / or resource planning
- Specialist knowledge of the wider pallet and timber industry
- Experience of leading improvement projects
- IT proficient with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
