We are looking for an exceptional individual to join us as Operations Support Manager. This is a temporary post for 6 months to enable support for the homes to aid settling down with the easing of restrictions. The position will be reviewed after 6 months.

The successful candidate will have an extensive background in nursing home management and ideally be working at senior operational or regional level with multi-site responsibility.

Person Specification:

* Registered Adult/MH Nurse

* Extensive experience in care of people with dementia

* Experience of care home management in the independent sector

* Up-to-date knowledge of employment law

* Knowledge and experience of quality assurance methods

* Experience of delivering training

* Knowledge of regulatory framework for care homes

* Good written communication skills

* Good leadership qualities

Job Purpose:

To support the management teams in the care homes to provide a high standard of safe and effective care by:

* Maintaining adequate management cover in each of the homes

* Helping to ensure that regulatory requirements are met

* Monitoring and auditing the quality of the service provided by the individual homes

* Providing advice and guidance on how to bring about improvements to the service provided by individual homes

* Providing advice and guidance to management teams to ensure that they operate in ways that are economically viable

* Providing additional training where necessary to complement and enhance that provided by the management teams

* Ensuring that the Group Nurse Manager and the Board of Directors are provided with up-to-date knowledge of care home operations

Responsibilities:

* Provide day-to-day operational support and advice to management teams in the care homes

* Carry out quality assurance audits and advise management teams on ways to achieve necessary improvements

* Step in to fill short-term gaps in management teams where necessary

* Support and advise management teams on achieving highest possible occupancy and operating within budget

* Involvement in training (as additional support to that provided by the home management)

* Ensure management teams are fulfilling requirements in relation to notifying statutory bodies of events

* Assist management teams to embed changes in company policy and procedures into everyday practice

* Conduct disciplinary hearings when necessary

* Provide out-of-hours support to the home management teams

* Provide regular reports to Group Nurse Manager and Directors

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Significant experience of care home management, ideally with at least two years’ experience at operations/regional management level
