We are looking for a Handy Person, an exciting opportunity to work in our brand-new Assessment Hub on the Isle of Wight. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, organised and self-motivated, passionate and positive with the ability to work on your own initiative as well as in a team.
Within our brand-new 17 bed Assessment Hub on the Isle of Wight the Handy Person undertakes work outlined within the planned maintenance report and the annual inspection report. In addition, the Handy Person completes day to day tasks to ensure the service operates safely and successfully as well as managing emergency repairs where necessary.
The role of Handy Person with The Salvation Army involves using your good DIY skills and maintaining the accommodation involving planned and general maintenance, managing day to day and emergency repairs, decorating, gardening, Health and Safety monitoring, dealing with contractors and order administration and processing. Experience of electrical and plumbing background would be advantageous. The ability to work in a flexible, professional and confidential way is essential as is the need to hold a full driving licence and have use of a car.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
- A good knowledge of Health & Safety
- Good customer service and time management skills with ability to prioritise workload
- The initiative towards problem solving which helps benefit colleagues and clients
- Good verbal and written communication skills
