As our Actuarial Modelling and Systems Analyst,you’ll join the Actuarial Modelling and Systems team that forms part of the larger Valuations team, which has the primary focus to add value to the decision making within VitalityLife through the analysis of actuarial experience, trends, profitability drivers and capital requirements. The Valuations team interacts closely with other companies within the group and its parent company, Discovery.
Your role as our Actuarial Modelling and Systems Analyst will involve:
Supporting the senior actuary in taking ownership of the data and modelling assets of the VitalityLife Valuations team, which include the Life Prophet model and model points, as well as experience analysis models for lapses, claims and business mix
Contributing to the design, build, testing and documentation of newly developed Actuarial models in response to new product launches and regulatory changes, as well as the maintenance and enhancement of existing models
Improving and maintaining model point and data checks processes utilising a combination of R, SQL and DCS
Continually improving the robustness and efficiency of the Actuarial Department through process improvements, system enhancements and an effective control framework
What we are looking for in our ideal Actuarial Modelling and Systems Analyst:
A student actuary, having made good progress with actuarial exams
Some insurance industry experience, preferably in life insurance
Strong systems and programming/coding skills, comfortable working on multiple software packages including Prophet, R, DCS, Power BI and SQL)
Confident communication skills, both verbally and written at all levels
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret a broad range of data and complex financial calculations
The ability to work under pressure and within a dynamic and changing environment
- Previous experience in a life insurance valuations/modelling/systems role
