A unique opportunity within a specialist provision for girls with behavioural needs has arisen in South London to teach English and at times Media to a class of 8 students. The school supports students with complex emotional needs and behaviour difficulties. Most students have a primary diagnosis of social emotional mental health difficulties (SEMH) but some have secondary diagnosis of moderate learning difficulties such as ADHD and dyslexia.

Continued Professional DevelopmentAbout the role of SEMH English Teacher:
Creative and vocational based learning is a directive of this specialist provision and as a SEMH English Teacher you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons for small groups of 4 to 6 children based in a highly complex setting. Working within this school requires a holistic approach, focusing on developing the student in all areas; emotional well being is as important if not more than their academic achievement.
You will engage the children and young people within the school in innovative, therapeutic, and meaningful activities, supporting them reach their full potential. The school values pupil progress and it is a positive and safe learning environment where staff morale is high.
Requirements for SEMH English Teacher:
To work as a SEMH English Teacher
QTS or QTLS
Relevant experience as a Teacher in the UK
Solid experience working with highly vulnerable children, pupils at risk of exploitation, gang-related issues, violent and aggressive behaviour, substance misuse, school phobic, highly disengaged pupils, attachment and anxiety disorders
