We are now recruiting for the role of machine operator, in the Telford area. This role will require experience.
This vacancy offers immediate start dependent on your need, and is a permanent role.
Starting from £19,044 and increasing through training to £22,167 + Shift Allowance
Hours of work:
Continental shifts - 12 hour days and nights rotating
Your duties as a machine operator would include but are not limited to:
Receives instructions from Team Leader and order card with information required to set the machine and materials required.
Sets up the machine by fitting clean lacquer, adhesive or colour tanks, pumps, trays, pressure rolls and doctor blades.
Has responsibility for changeover of machine after completion of each job including gravure cylinders.
Performs all quality control checks associated with the product being processed.
Threads the machine.
Threads the machine, by hand, with the materials needed, . foil, tissue, film, etc. and puts lacquer, colour and adhesives/waxes into the correct trays and operates pumps and tanks to maintain a suitable flow.
Ensures that the viscosities of lacquers, adhesives and waxes are correct using gained experience. When these are correct the first sample is produced and checked by Quality Control and the Supervisor. When they are satisfied the operator runs the machine by maintaining the process and materials.
During the process the operator will load new rolls of foil, tissue or film and identify any defective material produced for the benefit of subsequent processes.
The operator keeps the machine and auxiliary equipment, including fire protection, in a clean and tidy condition.
The operator will work on other machines in the department for which he has been trained as requested by the Team Leader or Manager.
Completes the necessary documentation for the job and BS 5750.
Operation of computer on-line measuring equipment to control colour shades and lacquer thickness.
To apply for the role of machine operator you must:
Know how to operate the glue laminating, wax laminating, colouring and two tier coating machines.
Know the various methods of applying colour and how to print a single colour.
Know how to set up the machines for the various processes involving the fitting of trays, pumps, pressure rolls and doctor blades.
Understand the working tolerances, appreciates the effects of different glues, waxes and lacquers and the handling of tissues, films and foil.
Understand the information on the order cards, other written instructions and can follow production schedules.
Know how to monitor colour shades once the standard has been set by Quality Control.
Know how to control the processes once the machine is running.
Know how to operate overhead hoists, hand trucks, electric trucks, scales and viscosity cups.
Know the Health and Safety aspects of the job.
Know the Fire and Evacuation procedures and can operate any fire protection equipment on machines.
Knowledge of viscosity controls and their effect on colour shade control.
