Purpose of the role

As a Hatchery Operative on the Twilight Shift, based at our Shobdon Hatchery, you’ll be part of the team carrying out the washing of chick boxes.

You will carry out a series of different tasks in daily rotation, carrying out line work in accordance with management and production requirements and task procedures.

Key responsibilities will include:

•Handling/lifting and washing boxes by using the Box Washer machine.

•Relief night cover of Process Technician duties . Lifting tray of eggs and working with equipment, moving trolleys and setting up hatchers.

•Carry out hygiene duties and general housekeeping of the hatchery, including washing incubators and process equipment.

•To fully understand and comply with all Hatchery, bird welfare, bio security and company policies and guidelines.

•Responsible for reporting chick issues/machinery issues

•To work closely with the Team Leader.

•Compliance with HSE guidelines, reporting of hazards and near misses.

What we are looking for:

•The ability to work alone and with minimal supervision

•Manual Handling and Poultry Welfare certificate

•Intermediate level of computer skills

•Effective communication skills both written and verbal

•The ability to work in an emergency situation

•A pleasant and polite manner, particularly on the telephone

•Good punctuality and attendance

•Previous night working experience would be beneficial

Working Hours: 24 hrs a week working a 3 week shift pattern
