A Continuous Improvement focused Purchasing Lead is required for my client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of electro-mechanical products for a range of industries. This is an 18 month fixed term contract with the potential of permanent employment upon the contracts completion. It is a fantastic opportunity to work for a multi-billion £ company. The Purchasing Lead will be responsible for assessing and documenting current work practices, creating new ones and modifying existing ones in order to drive improvement and maximize the value added in the utilisation of the resources employed by the Purchasing department (people, processes, systems, finances, time). There will also be expectations that this role supports with temporary managing a team of buyers and supervising a variety of procurement activities including preparation of specifications, the bidding process for commodities and contracts, and preparation, renewal, and monitoring of commodity and service requirements contracts. Responsbilities of the Purchasing Lead: Drive continuous improvement through improving the existing processes and introducing new ones with all associated activities (data gathering; process capture, mapping, testing, creation, training; process efficiency capture and benchmarking, etc) Liaise with peers and senior management to manage change / innovation through collaboration Achieve assigned performance metrics (QCDM related – Quality, Cost, Delivery and Motivation) and create and work to action plans where the results do not meet requirements Collect data and report internally and to senior management levels, both in UK Supply and at Group level Deputize for the Team Leaders when needed (team management: appraisals, tasks allocation and monitoring, development) Provide on going support for any other duties as required by the business Experience & Skills of the Purchasing Lead: Proven Procurement / Supply Chain management (team leading) experience in a fast pace manufacturing environment, preferable in a highly regulated industry Demonstrable Change and Project Management experience within a Procurement / Purchasing role Experience of influencing various levels of stakeholders effectively Commodity and supplier management with various categories of spend Experience in data management / analysis Specialist knowledge of procurement / purchasing systems and processes Good knowledge of continuous improvement principles and practices Good knowledge on tendering and contracting / contract management Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (excel in particular) and ERP systems Indirect Procurement experience Decision making and complex problem solving, conflict management skills Leadership and team development, can do and positive attitude Ability to manage and reprioritize workload to meet deadlines, for self and others Excellent communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills Flexibility and high adaptability to change ENG1
