This Senior Network Designer role is within IP/MPLS design, which forms part of the Reading based Network Technology team and will be responsible for: 1.

Architecture, design and co-ordination of the Ethernet, MPLS and Internet platforms 2.
Acting as subject matter expert (SME) in the domain and be the design authority when interacting with other parts of the SSET business 3.
Infrastructure expansion of the Ethernet and IP MPLS networks and the services that run over it (predominately E-LINE, E-LAN, L2 VPN and L3 VPN) 4.
Delivery of detailed design workflow from job initiation through to implementation, along with the creation and maintenance of key network records and proactive in life capacity management.
Business case input and gaining technical approvals across design and operations teams for change or upgrade requests.
What do I need? To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: 1.
An in-depth knowledge of IP WAN, including a good technical understanding of BGP and OSPF routing protocols and how to plan, design and integrate these across networks 2.
Experience within a service provider environment with an in-depth knowledge of IP and MPLS networks, technical certifications (.
Nokia NRS-I, NRS-II, Cisco CCNP) underpinning this applicable knowledge is desirable.
Specific experience working with Nokia 7750 service routers would be highly advantageous.
Commercial awareness and ability to build relationships with suppliers to help maximise return on investment 4.
Good working knowledge of other telecommunications technologies such as SDN/NFV, optical transmission and fibre 5.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Visio and creating applicable design document sets.
