Job Description

Position Title:  Director, Marketing - A&F/abercrombie kids, Europe
Reports to: VP, Europe – Global Brands
Location: London, England

The Director, Marketing will lead the development and execution of Europe-specific marketing strategy and operations in partnership with the VP, Europe – Global Brands.  The Director will work with the Home Office, but will have a high degree of independence (incl. budget management) to drive innovative ways to connect with European customers and accelerate growth in the region.

What will you be doing?

  • Leverage regional expertise and customer insights work to modify marketing messaging and strategy to suit the European customer while preserving brand identity and integrity
  • Supervise a team of 2-3 dedicated brand resources and co-manage another 3-4 with regional counterpart on European A&F team
  • Partner closely with regional customer insights resources to drive understanding of European customer needs and buying habits
  • Oversee translations and other market-specific content
  • Participate in seasonal / annual global brand campaign offsites, contributing to overall brainstorming and providing a regional perspective on campaign concepts
  • Provide input to wireframing / asset creation process in partnership with brand marketing resources
  • Understand regional marketing needs sufficiently to request specific asset types / featured products from the Home Office content team
  • Interface with European Product team to identify key products and seasonal trends
  • Own analytics on the success / ROI of marketing initiatives and leverage results to update regional strategy and improve operations
  • Participate in regional weekly business reviews (both marketing-specific and overall for the region) to identify and implement any necessary short-term actions
  • Provide monthly business updates to the Home Office to share high-level takeaways / best practices, communicating effectively remotely
  • Partner with regional Promotions, Planning, and Finance teams on key initiatives
  • Travel regularly to Columbus, Ohio to participate in key Home Office meetings

What will you need to bring?

  • Strong academic credentials from a top tier university or equivalent
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of retail or related industry experience
  • Proven ability to utilize customer research to develop and execute brand strategy
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience managing teams
  • Successful track record of brand market penetration and/or product sales growth
  • Familiarity and experience across different marketing spectrums (media, experiential, performance, etc.)
  • Proven critical thinking and analytical ability
  • Ability to travel frequently within European region

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant familiarity and experience working on a global brand
  • Previous exposure to or familiarity with different marketing areas (media, experiential, performance, etc.)
  • Mixture of agency and brand experience
