NPD Project Manager – Food manufacturing
Salary: £35-46,000 + benefits
The main purpose of this essential role is to be a vital part the NPD team by managing and executing NPD/renovation projects for a wide range of branded products and adjacent technology projects.
This will involve developing and executing complex/global projects using solid technical project management tools and skills, to deliver on time and within budget.
Project Management – Develop and executing complex projects within platform and adjacent technologies, using solid technical project management tools and skills to ensure objectives are accomplished on time, to the agreed standards and within budget.
Data driven product design – Demonstrated application of consumer product testing, sensorial and analytical data to ensure excellent product launches through creation of quality technical product specifications.
Lead recipe development and prototyping against marketing led concepts, and provide R&D input to concept development
Lead projects independently with minimal input from line manager escalating issues as required
Contribute to workstreams to improve ways of working across the team . improvement of business processes to drive greater efficiencies, sharing of knowledge to create better team cohesion & developing others through embedding best practice
Provide R&D voice in cross-functional forums and work as an effective business partner in collaboration with R&D discipline partners.
Graduate in a Food Science or Engineering discipline or equivalent in experience
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in FMCG R&D product or technology development roles, managing NPD projects from concept to launch, ideally in the baked foods sector but open to all food categories
Effective technical project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
Coordination and execution of factory trials to deliver NPD
Demonstrated understanding & application of consumer product testing, sensory & analytical methods
Co-ordination of 3rd party manufacturers &/or suppliers to meet business goals
In-depth analytical skills to interpret complex data and distill into meaningful information . interpreting process data, experimental design, and statistical inference
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence with integrity through persuasive communication to win support at more senior levels within the R&D and Supply Chain and to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders from different levels, backgrounds, and cultures
Ability to quickly analyse complex problems to find actionable pragmatic solutions.
Self-starter, self-motivating: able to balance competing priorities without losing momentum and manage uncertainty and complexity in fast-evolving FMCG environments, Excellent time management, and organization skills. Ability to handle multiple initiatives and work effectively in an environment of ambiguity and change
Knowledge and understanding of baking and sheeting processes would be an advantage
Whilst the role is day-based at one location, willing to work flexible hours on occasion and travel as necessary.
