Senior Economist, Transaction Advisory

SUMMARY:The role of Senior Economist is a mid-level project management role with responsibility for excellent economic and strategic analysis, project delivery and client engagement.We are currently looking for a Senior Economist to join our Transaction Advisory practice, to support internal and external project management and develop our expertise in business case evaluation and transaction support of economic infrastructure assets around the world.
Experience in at least one of the following sectors is required; Transport; Energy; Water; Smart Cities.Experience in supporting bids for public private partnerships and other forms of private finance projects, assisting governments in evaluation and procurement of such projects, and ongoing support to the private owners and operators of such assets, would be an advantage.

DESCRIPTION OF THEROLE: A successful Senior Economist is able to analyse new and complexproblems, design and apply advanced methods, and produce high quality endproducts. A Senior Economist will also be expected to manage some staff andparts of projects, as well as to begin to develop client relationships. Theideal candidate for work in Transaction Advisory would have a combination ofstrategic advisory experience and economic modelling related to economicinfrastructure (transport, energy, water, etc.). This is someone who can bothbuild models and create findings that are relevant to both government agenciesand financial investors in economic infrastructure. The role has a a particularfocus on economic forecasting, the modelling of revenues and wider economicbenefits, and the economics of public-private partnership models.
The role will involve working in teams as well asindependently to formulate evidence-based insights and translate them intocredible, clear and compelling advice and support to our clients. The candidatewill have a proven track record of working in the private finance sector andwill understand what it takes to manage and successfully deliver advice in thechallenging contexts bid support. The geographic focus is international. Someinternational travel may be expected as part of this role.
While the successful candidate is expected to focus on the role outlined above, they will also be required to contribute insight on broader economic forecasting, and the general commercial and economic dynamics of public private partnerships to a range of other projects across the companys focal areas.

REPORTING AND SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: A SeniorEconomist will lead key streams of work for a project, and may also begin totake the primary lead on a project as a whole. As a result, a Senior Economistmay supervise up to three people, of Economist and Analyst grade. A SeniorEconomist will report to the Transaction Advisory Practice Leads.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must havesufficient experience to demonstrate competency in the duties described. As aguide, five or more years of experience with at least half focused specificallyon private financing of projects. Previous consultancy experience is notnecessary but is preferred. Previous experience managing projects and complexanalysis is required.
A first class or upper second class degree in a relevant fieldis required. An MSc/MA or Ph.D. in a relevant field preferred. Fluency inEnglish is essential. Working knowledge of other languages, particularly Spanish,are a bonus.
