Senior Business Development Consultant (Energy)

Location: Wiltshire, England, UK / Flexible working available

Employment Type: Full-time

The Senior Business Development Consultant will support our client's team in implementing their established business development strategy and will identify and manage global BD opportunities.

Our client delivers insight that comes from hands-on experience, driven by a desire to make a real difference to the renewable energy industry. Their team has the objective knowledge of the market and supply chain for wind turbines in the UK, derived from over 150 staff years of experience. Their global client base spans Government, enabling bodies, turbine manufacturers, developers and investors through to the entire supply chain.

Our client provides strategy consulting in renewable energy. They help their clients to do new things, think in new ways and solve tough problems. They aim to help their clients succeed in a sustainable global electricity generation mix founded on renewables.

Their purpose is to help clients establish renewable energy as a major, responsible and cost-effective part of a sustainable energy mix.

As a global, independent wind and marine energy generation consultancy, they focus on:

Working closely with Business Development leads and the whole team, you will:

Develop and nurture interactive and impactful relationships with existing and prospective business clients and identify how to add value and support their business ambitions
Work with their business development team to develop and implement targeted campaigns
Work closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications to align business development and marketing activity
Proactively manage their sales pipeline in their CRM system
Manage the preparation of proposals and tenders to a high level of efficiency and quality, including high-quality bid writing
Manage commercial activity including pricing, contract negotiation and legal documentation
Ensure smooth handover to the project delivery team
Represent the company at industry events
Engage with industry to stay up to date with latest information, and gain insight into current trends and thinking
Work closely with other members of the team in a supportive, collaborative and dynamic working culture.

What they are looking for?

A flair and passion for business development, with a natural ability to build rapport and identify opportunities
* Business development experience gained in a consulting or project environment, ideally within the wind industry, with an emphasis on offshore wind
* A mature approach to developing client relationships and your industry network
* The knowledge and confidence to explore the challenges that clients face and to identify creative
solutions
* An exploratory, problem-solving mindset, able to take a big picture view
* A degree, ideally at or above
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ideally experience of working with CRM tools such as Salesforce
* Excellent writing skills to communicate clearly and accurately in written documents
* Confidence in presenting to a wide range of audiences with the ability to effectively engage listeners
* A keen interest in meeting and talking with new people, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
* The ability to pick things up quickly, as every opportunity and every day can be different
* Initiative and self-sufficiency to work in a small team
* An aptitude for order, accuracy, efficiency and quality so that you can deliver to our high standards
* The ability to prioritise a busy and varied schedule and juggle different demands on your time
* Flexibility, focus and a hunger to learn
* Confidence in your ability and talent as a high performer
* A vibrant interest in the industries they serve
