Please note that my client cannot offer VISA sponsorship for this role

Your new company
You will be joining a technology business that have built a platform to help retain customers and enhance the reputation of leading leisure businesses in the UK. Despite their links to hospitality their headcount has grown through Covid and they are now investing further to double the size of their product delivery team in the coming months.

The role offers the chance to work in their Guildford office or to be fully remote, that's completely up to you.

Your new role
The team is small but very capable. It's a lean start-up mentality where responsibilities are shared equally but with a distinct focus on a split of back end and front end. They've selected Laravel as their new framework of choice to build new products, however their existing products are built with CodeIgniter, so you must have worked with either of these to some capacity. What you can be assured of is that you'll cover the full software lifecycle and there is an excellent % of greenfield work available.

The products you'll work on have a genuine measurable impact for clients so it's a chance to see the rewards of your efforts. It's not somewhere you will be pigeon-holed and there is great autonomy and trust given to the Devs. This is a two-way agreement in regard to flexibility and you'll consider yourself highly self-motivated to help the team and business achieve targets.

What you'll need to succeed

  • At least 3- to 5-years' PHP and MVC experience, ideally in CodeIgniter
  • A demonstrable understanding of the importance of writing secure code
  • Very strong SQL knowledge
  • Experience in version control (GIT), CI processes and build/deploy tools
  • Experience in all stages of the development lifecycle, from technical design through to code review and unit testing
  • Built RESTful and/or SOAP APIs to expose and consume data
  • *nix administration skills (Ubuntu), including web and mail servers
  • Automated debug and unit test skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • or other JavaScript frameworks
  • Agile teams
  • Technical design and UML
  • EPOS/till systems
  • Working in the hospitality sector

What you'll get in return
You'll join a team where work life balance is not an abstract culture, in fact quite the opposite as flexible and remote working options have been in play since day 1 here. Being in their particular sector open communication is key so they are big on embracing virtual. They have 25 days holiday and are introducing a number of other benefits as they move into next year.
