People Business Partner

12 month FTC - Maternity Cover

Remote working role with occasional travel to head office in Swindon and Southern region depots

We’re currently recruiting a passionate, and knowledgeable field based People Business Partner to join our central People Team on a 12 month fixed term maternity cover. We’d love for you to come with strong generalist experience in addition to experience of developing and or leading Diversity, Inclusion and Equality strategies which is at the heart of this role.

You will be working across the business, with multiple stakeholders to deliver excellence and contribute to our overall aims of:

  • Developing an inclusive, collaborative and customer-centric culture with inclusive leaders capable of inspiring and leading change whilst motivating high performing teams
  • Through building capability, create a sustainable organisation positioned for growth
  • Building a customer centric people team , recognised for strategic partnering and supporting growth though championing and leading the development of a great, personalised colleague experience built on fit for purpose people processes
  • Using data available to us to inform, educate and drive objectives
  • Be proactive in developing our approach to attraction, development, performance management, colleague engagement and wellbeing

About the role

  • You will be proactively driving plans to improve performance and build capability to support stakeholders manage talent, succession and development plans for their teams
  • Acting as the People Team lead on driving the Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion agenda
  • Actively involved in the development of business strategies, ensuring people priorities and opportunities are identified and executed
  • Driving and enabling the delivery of key people projects within the operational teams to execute effective implementation, whilst maximising the benefits and minimising disruption
  • Positively challenging the status quo and culture to ensure the voice of the colleague and customer is at the forefront of decisions
  • You will be a role model; managing collaboration across teams, working in partnership fully understanding key drivers and facilitating creative ideas and organisational solutions
  • Inspiring teams and colleagues to deliver the transformation plans and providing coaching and training that builds confidence
  • Acting as a sounding board and coach/mentor to senior managers/colleagues to encourage the development of collaborative networks and relationships
  • Ensuring managers are supported in all aspects of their approach to people management, compliance and development practices, working with other Business Partners and wider colleagues to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach
  • Organisation change will not be a key focus in this role

About you

  • MCIPD, degree educated or
  • Previous people business partnering experience with the ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of the employee life cycle and build strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Up to date knowledge of UK Employment Law and Practice with a high appreciation of dealing with sensitive / confidential information alongside previous experience of implementing change
  • Previous experience in supporting diverse customers to interpret business needs and define innovative, cost effective solutions at scale.
  • Previous experience of working in an Equality Diversity and Inclusion related role.
  • Experience of talent management and succession planning
  • Experience with designing and delivering against the people plan strategy
  • Resilient, collaborative, solutions orientated, flexible, and innovative in your approach utilising support from other members of the team
  • Self-aware, open to feedback and with a strong commitment to personal and professional development
  • Looks for all opportunities to develop and improve across functions that will drive enhanced business partnership
  • Previous experience of delivery around change management and the ability to use effective skills and techniques to achieve the most successful business outcome in line with our values
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organisation's structure, jobs, corporate practices, and the administrative practices relating to them
  • Experience in identifying and facilitating learning and development to improve performance
