Job Profile Summary

bp is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to support the deliverables of the Mechanical Discipline as part of the Production Support Unit. The successful candidate will provide discipline expertise to mechanical engineering queries and risk assessment processes. The role will also provide an opportunity to support regional reliability aims and having an opportunity to work with and support Mechanical Engineers on each facility as well as influencing engineering activities associated with the North Sea production facilities.

Objectives and activities will be executed in line with both personal and squad backlog to deliver business value in line with the standards and processes set by the Mechanical discipline.

Actively maintaining the health of safety barriers, supporting delivery of maintenance and verification of mechanical maintenance and inspection strategies will be an important aspect of this role.

Key Accountabilities

Providing Mechanical Engineering expertise to other teams by performing and reviewing complex, or non-routine mechanical engineering calculations and analyses, as well as supporting and coaching Mechanical Engineers in the region with complex engineering assessments to support ongoing development.

Providing Mechanical Engineering expertise to hazard identification and risk assessment processes.

Providing Mechanical Engineering expertise to deliver regional actions. Take lead on resolution of complex, multi-discipline technical issues where the dominant component is Mechanical Engineering.

Essential Education

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and/or equivalent relevant professional qualification.

Essential Experience

Knowledge of governing codes, industry standards and local regulations relevant to mechanical engineering, and proven ability in practical application of engineering standards and practices for mechanical equipment.

Experience and technical understanding of engineering, maintenance and operation of mechanical equipment in an offshore environment.

Providing regular and emergent Mechanical Engineering support for site operations related queries/activities/risks to deliver safe, reliable and compliant operations.

Desirable Criteria

Professional accreditation, . Chartered Engineer
