The Opportunity

Reporting into the EMEA Financial Controller, this role takes responsibility for the preparation of required statutory accounts for four European entities and provides expert technical accounting guidance, including for any changes in legislation. Responsibilities of this role include the implementation of applicable changes, new requirements, and improvements, ensuring that new accounting treatments are duly adopted. In addition, the ideal candidate has good accounting knowledge, internal controls, and experience working with external auditors. They are an analytical thinker with a data driven background that supports cross-functional work streams and are looking for an opportunity to learn, grow, and become a part of the Datto team.

An ACA/ACCA qualified accountant with strong statutory reporting (in line with FRS102/IFRS), and tax management skills. Deadline driven with excellent leadership qualities.

A look inside the job:

  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts in line with accounting standards, encompassing any new accounting frameworks and/or standards for various entities within the Datto Group and liaise with external auditors.
  • Understanding of statutory entity accounts at a detailed level to produce analytical review and reporting.
  • Monthly/Quarterly reconciliations of the financial statements for various entities with analysis of movements whilst querying any issues.
  • Assist with external audit requests during both the annual audit and quarterly reviews
  • Monthly postings into accounting system (Netsuite) to form a complete set of accounts for accounting of the entity.
  • To ensure month end reporting is completed in adequate time to produce returns to the regulator and perform quarterly reviews prior to the regulatory returns being completed.
  • Ensuring adequate information is received from third parties to meet the disclosure requirements of the entities and the consolidation of the Datto Group results.
  • Assist in month-end close process and other assigned department related tasks, as necessary
  • Ensure data integrity for assigned accounts including consistent compliance with internal controls over financial reporting
  • Investigate reporting discrepancies and communicate issues, effectively and in a timely manner
  • Assist in the development of SOX compliant documentation of internal control
  • Consistently evaluate areas for process improvement and automation
  • Partake in ad hoc accounting or finance projects and analysis, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Accounting or similar degree
  • ACCA or ACA qualified accountant
  • Experience with working in a complex ERP system; NetSuite is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills: proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external business partners at various level in a clear and concise manner
  • Team player with a strong work ethic
  • Tech savvy and MS Excel super user (candidate must be comfortable working with and analyzing large datasets)
  • Ability to facilitate and resolve issues
