Location: Cambridge, CB1 8DH

Salary: £27,000-£32,000 depending on skills and experience + profit share

Hours of Work: Permanent, Full-time

About the Company:

Our client is a medium-sized company based in Cambridge. For the last 30 years they have been developing and producing the fastest pollutant gas analysers in the world, used by major manufacturers and research institutions all over the world for research and development into emissions reduction. They now produce a range of products used in the aerosol and emissions research areas and conduct emissions reduction development for the automotive industry.

Our client is employee owned and works closely with universities in the UK on a wide range of research projects.

They have a vacancy for a Graduate Engineer working on field support of their DPG products, along with continuing development of this and other products.

This role will suit a candidate looking to experience a wide range of engineering activities, from field support of customers to product design, test and build.

Graduate Support & Applications Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Visit operators of our products overseas for service, support and fault-finding
  • Support operators of our products remotely, by email and telephone, diagnosing faults with instruments in use
  • Identifying components for new and existing products and discussing with suppliers to specify these
  • Write internal and external documents in the support of new designs, e.g. manuals, marketing materials and test procedures
  • Work in a team developing new instruments and improvements to our existing products

Graduate Support & Applications Engineer Requirements:

  • Eligible to work in the UK, without restrictions (Essential)
  • New or recent Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a strong practical ability
  • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems backed up by practical experience
  • An aptitude for understanding the operation of complex systems and machines is important, including fluid and electronic components
  • Willingness to travel overseas and to work with customers is important
  • Good ability at working with MS Office tools, particularly large Excel files
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with other data processing tools such as Python (Advantageous)
