You will work closely with a senior counterpart to continually asses corporate risk on an ongoing basis and with succession planning in mind you will be developed to step up and be the lead business assurance and risk manager for BGS.
Client Details British Geological Survey are a world renowned scientific research organisation who specialise in geoscience research.
BGS is housed within the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and are affiliated to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
BGS provides a core science mission to inform the government of science related to the subsurface and its interfaces and also undertakes applied research for solutions to earth and environmental processes, both in the UK and globally.
BGS is funded directly by the UKRI as well as through research grants and via private sector contracts.
Description Working closely with the Business Assurance Manager, you will deputise within risk and assurance and you will have a number of key responsibilities including: Ensuring that BGS have a detailed & robust business continuity system in place Managing all aspects of the internal audit programme which will include liaising with auditors, organising any required training internally and conducting internal audits Carrying out external assessment visits to ensure BGS meet their obligations in terms of its various standards which are both internal and external Managing project risk for projects both within the UK and overseas Carrying out quality and assurance checks and audits in relation to the supply of estates & facilities suppliers on both the hard and soft services Helping to manage and achieve ISO 27001 certification Liaising with external auditing and certification bodies Testing the adequacy and resilience of the business continuity planProfile To be considered for this position, applicants will need to demonstrate the following: A degree which is relevant to business assurance and business risk Ideally a formal qualification relating to Quality Management, Risk Management or Auditing Practical experience of working within a role that covers business continuity, emergency planning, corporate risk and conducting internal audits Working knowledge of external certification bodies and government auditingThe role is based at the BGS head office in Keyworth near Nottingham so ideally you will live in or around the Nottingham region.
Some occasional national travel to other BGS sites will be required, approximately once a month.
Job Offer A salary of £30,782 to £33,459 is on offer dependant on experience.
You will also receive a very generous benefits package which includes 30 days annual leave plus 8 days bank holidays and an additional privilege days.
