Housekeeper Historic house and luxury bed and breakfast
Part time, up to 30 hours per week. £10 per hour.
With a rich history dating back to the 1100’s, Combermere Abbey is an exceptional wedding and corporate event venue based on the Shropshire / Cheshire border, between Whitchurch and Nantwich.
The Combermere Abbey Estate is home to Sarah Callander Beckett, her husband Peter and their son, Peregrine, who in 1992 inherited it from Sarah’s great-grandfather, Sir Kenneth Crossley.

What will this role of Housekeeper / Cleaner entail?
As a Housekeeper/ Cleaner, you’ll manage the housekeeping activities for both public and family use in the historic Abbey private residence and the boutique North Wing B&B. You’ll make sure all rooms are clean and excellently presented, whilst carrying out domestic cleaning and laundry duties such as emptying bins, cleaning fires, and washing and ironing.
This role will also offer you more variety than just cleaning and laundry you’ll get to interact with customers, handle valuable objects and antiques and see the other behind the scenes action that makes a guest’s stay truly memorable.
During corporate events, you’ll meet and greet guests, serve cakes, coffees and other refreshments. You’ll also be required to help with food preparation and cooking and serving breakfast for guests in the North Wing.
The family hold events and house parties at various times throughout the year, which you’ll be required to help out at from time to time.
What will I need in order to be considered for this Housekeeper / Cleaner role?
- Experience as an executive cleaner or housekeeper
- Own transport is essential due to rural location
- Dog friendly we have two Labradors
- A professional presentation and attitude, with a customer-orientated and friendly outlook
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team, and manage and prioritise tasks
- Basic computer skills to handle ad hoc bookings, payments and sending emails
If successful, you must be prepared to gain a Food Hygiene Certificate, if you do not have one already.
What will I receive in return?
As a Housekeeper / Cleaner you’ll receive a pay rate of £10 per hour.
You’ll be employed on a permanent, part time contract, working up to 30 hours per week 5 days out of 7, which will include weekends and bank holidays.
Your working hours will alternate between 9am to 3:30pm, and 7:30am to 2pm.
