Utilities Supervisor

  • \*\*Role purpose\*\* : Provide on-site leadership, direction and development of all work facets in the management of staff and subcontractors to ensure safe, on-time/budget delivery of the Gigaclear FTTH construction project.

    \* Proven track record within the Utilities industry preferably on large Fibre to the Home Projects.
    \* 5+ Years' experience working on Construction projects in a fast-paced environment

  • \*\*Duties and Responsibilities:\*\*
  • \* Provide on-site leadership, direction and development of all work facets in the management of staff and subcontractors to ensure safe, on-time/budget delivery of the Gigaclear FTTH construction project;
    \* Ensure the quality of network deployment during constructions is to the required designs and installation and testing of network is in accordance with specification
    \* Provide direct management of the Civils Teams and support the Civils Team with any technical or performance issues;
    \* Drive Civils team performance on site to achieve productivity levels required by Senior Management;
    \* Inspect and measure completed work daily to ensure the subcontractors measures are accurate and quality and deployment specifications are met
    \* Complete daily audits for all operational support within the assigned network build
    \* Ensure that HSE and quality documentation is accurate, completed and filed appropriately
    \* Ensure 2 week look ahead visibility on all areas; identify potential bottlenecks, reduce downtime;
    \* Solve emerging issues to ensure the Civils Team remains productive;
    \* Build a productive and cohesive team by setting clear targets for each individual and team members ensuring they can deliver as required;
    \* Ensure Civils works are undertaken in line with the Build Managers Program of works;
    \* Review and report on previous week's productivity and issues;
    \* Undertake forward planning

  • \* Identify and manage hazards and communicate them to team members;

  • \* Ensure people are competent to do the work they are asked to do;
    \* Report incidents and accidents and investigate all Utility strikes; Document and escalate all strikes
    \* Responsible for Safety & Quality performance across all sites in the area and providing weekly reporting;
    \* Identify, report and defects ensuring all work is completed in line with the build specification and HAUC standards
    \* Ensure Civils Team reporting is accurate and consistent;
    \* Responsible for the delivery of all cabinets in the area at the agreed construction rate;
    \* Ensure build is completed to the build standards; monitor and close out Field Correction Notices, Defects and NCR's; weekly statistics reporting including safety, quality, strike and environmental reporting;

  • \* Develop and build a cohesive relationship with all relevant departments within the business;
    \* Update the Build Manager on Build progress, Team performance and build issues through weekly Build Progress Meetings;
    \* Build a strong working relationship with the Programme Manager, Project Manager, Build Manager, and Build Surveyors ensuring alignment within the team;
    \* Direct and oversee the Build Task Order and Completed Task Order ensuring all areas from Kick off to completion are successfully delivered safe on time and on budget to the required Noticing and Quality Standards;
    \* Maintain deadlines and deliverables and communicate on an ongoing basis with the Build Manager and Civils Teams;
    \* Participate in weekly meetings ensuring information is successfully captured, escalated and filtered down to the Project & Civils teams;
    \* Undertake 6 monthly performance appraisals with subcontractors Identify underperforming staff & teams; follow performance management procedures, initiate disciplinary meetings;
    \* Review Project scope and ensure all deviations/additions have been successfully captured in the companies change control process. Escalate all changes to the Build Manager; Communicate information to ensure Civils teams receive the updated information

  • \* Carry out any other duties that can reasonably be requested from time to time within the skills, training and experience required for this position.

  • \*\*Typical Hours:\*\*
  • \* Offices are open from 07:00 to 17:30 (Mon-Fri); candidates would be expected to work a minimum of 45 hours a week. Working activities do extend outside of this, however overtime on weekends is negotiable.
