Maintenance Fitter

Sheffield, South Yorkshire

£11 - £13 per hour

Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, this role will be responsible for the daily maintenance within the factory, the main focus will be prevention of production downtime and reacting to any breakdowns.

Apprentice trained, qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter required, candidate requires a strong background of welding/fabricating, knowledge and experience of manual heavy machinery, pipe fitting, and the ability to react to breakdowns in a timely manner adjacent to working with a critical PMs System.


  • General support to the production line, covering all aspects of Maintenance
  • Respond in a prompt and effective manner to all mechanical related reactive maintenance issues.
  • Keeping up with preventative maintenance tasks and schedules
  • General Maintenance around the facility
  • Assist colleagues when required and must be able to work on your own and be able to use your initiative.
  • Fault finding and reporting on parts required to repair equipment
  • Repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum systems and pumps,
  • Carry out basic welding tasks
  • Ensure health and safety is being adhered to.
  • Support all 5s initiatives and H&S activities around the facility
  • Any other duties as required.


  • Relevant apprenticeship
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Experience working in a heavy engineering environment
  • Practical working knowledge of working with and solving production issues.
  • FLT licence (desirable)
  • Working at heights (desirable)
  • Working in confined spaces (desirable)
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, present ideas and solutions

  • Working hours: 6:30am to 4:15pm Monday to Thursday, with overtime available
