Job Purpose and Accountabilities
To provide a high quality and comprehensive legal service on all aspects of criminal law/prosecutions and to appear in court, tribunal/chambers as appropriate. We are seeking a prosecutions lawyer to undertake a variety of enforcement work for the Council preferably with experience in, and to provide dedicated support, on the following: Banning Orders under the Housing and Planning Act 2016; - Rent Repayment Orders; - Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings. - Prosecutions and FPNs under the Housing Act 2004, trading standards, Covid-19 enforcement, fraud, education, environmental/waste, street trading.
Person Specification/Selection Criteria
Knowledge and skills
Knowledge of Local Government and administrative law and extensive knowledge and experience in the area of law for the post advertised.
Knowledge of English and European legislation relevant to the area of law for the post advertised.
Ability to work in a team and in partnership with various stakeholders and professional advisors and maintain good client relations.
Excellent communication at all levels orally and in writing and the ability to explain the law simply and concisely
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential matters.
Experience of preparing, drafting, negotiating and completing legal documents in the field of contracts law.
Experience of advising clients and meeting deadlines and time recording.
Good working knowledge and application of legal case management systems
Written references for last two years
Degree and practicing solicitor or barrister
