Start Date: September 2021
GSL Education are currently looking for a number of SEN Teachers to work across the client secondary and primary schools from September 2021, across Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
The Trust promotes excellent learning behaviour for all its pupils with a core focus on fostering pupil resilience in its mainstream and specialist teaching settings; resultantly, pupils make exceptional progress irrespective of starting points.
These positions are open to those already with SEN Teaching experience, or those looking to take the leap into the SEN sector.
What it takes…
If you do not already have experience teaching in a SEN school or alternative provision, skills needed include:
knowledge of teaching and the ability to design courses
sensitivity and understanding
patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
the ability to work well with others
the ability to create the best conditions for learning or teaching new things
to be flexible and open to change
the ability to understand people’s reactionsFurther training can be provided by the Trust for specific requirements such as Team Teach, Moving and Handling, Prevent and Autism Awareness.
Strong communication is key as you will need to liaise with internal and external staff including local authorities, specialist teaching services, medical staff, therapists and psychologists.
To be successful, you must possess the following qualifications:
-UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
-Through creative learning, be able to rapidly engage and create rapport with students.
-Have a current Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on file with the Update Service, or be willing to get one through GSL Education.
-Be able to effectively manage behavior associated with complex requirements such as ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or PMLD.
-Be a person who is very motivated and enthusiastic.
