Electrical Controls and Improvement Manager to lead site EC&I team and as part of succession plans in respect of the engineering team as a whole in this South Wales based role
You must have significant relevant experience and be educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline with an appreciation of the techniques; problems and standards associated with working in an industrial environment.
Key responsibilities include: team leadership; preventative maintenance systems; technical lead on fault finding and diagnostics; new system development. Experience in robotics, control software or systems automation is a significant advantage.

* Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will manage the in-house electrical team including line management of 5 technicians and support the Engineering Manager in management of the other engineering teams, deputising where necessary.
* Accountable for site electrical compliance, ensuring continued adherence to the required standards and that future installations are compliant with the prevailing legislation.
* Create the strategy for outage activities, ensuring tasks are planned and executed to cost and schedule. Decide which activities are performed in-house and which are structured using sub-contract support.
* Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of site drawings and associated documentation.
* Through your team you will provide fault finding and troubleshooting support for plant, equipment and infrastructure.
* Support to and development of site productivity performance improvements to meet operational KPI’s
* Lead EC&I improvement projects including support to larger site projects and integrated teams.
* Ensure computer based maintenance schedules continue to develop to deliver asset integrity, performance and regulatory compliance. Ensuring the identification and specification where necessary of new or replacement equipment, critical and non-critical spares.
* Develop a detailed understanding of the manufacturing process allowing integration of the engineering team with production drivers and personnel.
our Qualities

* Strong work ethic with good communication skills.
* Relevant experience in developing and maintaining production equipment ideally within a heavy industrial environment, . metals or chemicals.
* Experience of managing an Engineering team.
* Fundamental understanding of IEE 18th edition and related HSAW regulations.
Experience in the following is desirable:
* Systems Engineering knowledge including PLC systems, Robotics and Process Control
* Familiar with a range of Instrumentation, including pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature measurement and electrically actuated pneumatic valves.
* Experience in 3-phase systems, AC motors including configuring VSD parameters, OHCs and associated control gear.
* Proficient fault finding & diagnostics skills.
Additional skills desirable:
* Knowledge of Industrial Gas Burner Control Systems and Electric Heating Systems
* Knowledge of Hydraulic Control Systems
* CMMS experience
* IOSH safety qualification or equivalent
Travel to work from Newport, Merthyr, Cwmbran, Neath, Caerphilly, Cardiff
