Title: Purchasing Assistant

Reports to: Senior Buyer

Salary £20k to £25k

Overview:

To support the company's current growth strategy a decision has been made to recruit a Purchasing Assistant to work within their established Procurement Team. He or she will play a key role in assisting both the Supply Chain Manager and Senior Buyer in their everyday responsibilities to ensure that supplies arrive on time and on budget to the Production facility.

The preferred candidate would benefit from the following key criteria:

Although no formal experience in purchasing is required for the position but it would be advantageous for the candidate to have gained 1+ year of professional experience and have some exposure to a manufacturing environment.
Preferably applicants will have some previous experience of working within an administrative role.
Will ideally be apprenticeship/degree educated.
Have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Be able to undertake projects to achieve cost reductions and continuously strive for improvements within the purchasing process and current working practices.
Be a bright, driven individual looking to further their career in a rapidly expanding, successful and established company.

The Purchasing Assistant's key responsibilities will include:

Raise Purchase Orders for requirements generated through the MRP.
Raise Purchase Orders for all stationery, janitorial, consumable and non-MRP requirements.
To assist in processing of suppliers invoices as, and when required.
To fulfil any administrative functions within the department.
To assist the Senior Buyer in the progressing of outstanding or late Purchase Orders.
To ensure Purchase Order Memo Codes are updated on a weekly basis.
To maintain ISO9001 Supplier Certification Register on a monthly basis.
To ensure all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for purchased products are maintained as and when required.
