About the role
We are looking for a passionate, energetic and aspirational individual to work within our care home team based in Market Drayton, Shropshire as a Senior Social Care Worker. The home supports adults with high to profound learning disabilities and associated health needs.
As a Senior Social Care Worker, you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to customers. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with customers, supporting them to achieve their potential and explore new opportunities and interests. You will take an active part in engaging with customers to understand their lifestyle choices at a level and pace that values the individual and respects their dignity and communication differences.
The role plays an integral part of the care team, you will be responsible for leading, managing and supporting your care team ensuring they are always providing high quality of care and service to all residents. You will ensure care plans are regularly reviewed through continuous assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of customers care and be a role model for other social care workers in the home. In addition, the successful candidate will be confident to lone work and it is essential to have a good understanding and working experience of mental health, autism and learning difficulties.
As a Senior Social Care Worker, you’ll be doing the following:
Supporting the management to run a successful staff team and all day to day operations of the home
To assist the management team with the supervisions and medication competency assessments of junior staff
Inducting new staff into the home’s procedure and culture
Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the customer’s physical, behavioural and emotional needs.
Be the customer’s champion and as part of the wider team, strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
Assist senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
Support customers in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activity in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour.
You will play a pivotal role in customer’s day to day life including co-ordinating, attending reviews and liaising with external agencies
Co-ordinating and organising rotas, including deployment of staff to ensure the home provides commissioned care hours
Undertake duties in the running of the home including health and safety and quality assurance compliance
The ideal candidate will have the skills to support team building and to manage challenging situations as well as holding a level 3 NVQ or above in Health and Social Care or equivalent. ICT skills are essential to this role, as is a good standard of literacy and numeracy. Mandatory training, such as medication, safeguarding, MAPA and health and safety would be advantageous, however, specialist training tailored to the needs of our customers will be provided.
It is essential to have excellent communication skills and management experience or demonstrable leadership skills.
A full driving licence is preferable
Our home is 24/7 where we use a rota system to ensure customers get the care they need. As a Social Care Worker, you will be required to work a shift rota system that includes working some weekends and bank holidays.
