Principal Social Worker Head of Practice Improvement

Sanctuary Social Care has a permanent job vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Principal Social Worker (Head or Practice Improvement) to work in Waltham Forest. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in childrens services and be registered with the HCPC.

The salary for the Principal Social Worker job is £61,929 £65,367 per annum.

  • Job Purpose:

  • To lead and strategically manage the transformation of social work practice development including embedding the professional competency framework.
  • To lead on research, development, coordination and maintenance of systems and procedures relating to innovation and good practice in assessment and care management, and related health service systems.
  • To lead on the development, implementation and the evaluation of a quality framework for social work practice including case file and supervision audits to drive continuous development of practice standards.
  • To lead on the development and implantation of continuous professional development linking with induction, supervision and appraisal processes.
  • To lead on practice improvement in social care services.

  • Main Duties:

  • Plan and ensure service delivery within a complex/diverse service area. Provide professional oversight within the service area and ensure professional standards are delivered.
  • Develops service plans to meet strategic business goals. Ensure compliance with all internal and external standards.
  • Assure professional standard of case management and the effective management of risk within the service area.
  • Lead the development and oversee the implementation of policy, systems, contracts, processes, performance criteria, standards, governance frameworks, and procedures within area of responsibility.
  • Manage responses to complex professional or politically sensitive issues within the area of responsibility.
  • Advise Directors, Members and others on issues relevant to the service area.
  • Provide professional challenge and advice to colleagues, managers and partner organisations.
  • Ensure the necessary standards relating to safeguarding best practices/protocols are effectively communicated, monitored and maintained.
  • Ensure the development and delivery of continuous improvements in all aspects of the service.
  • Identify, secure, deploy and manage the resources necessary for the professional service area to meet/exceed its objectives.
  • Implement a risk management programme and advise on issues affecting Council service areas.
  • Prepare and present a full range of reports (both standard and nonstandard) covering area of responsibility.
  • Ensure the necessary standards relating to safeguarding best practices/protocols are effectively communicated, monitored and maintained.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of health and safety legislation, policies and practices.
  • Act in accordance with all policies and procedures which apply to the job and understand the reasons for this.

  • Requirements of the Principal Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within childrens services
