Site Engineering Manager – Food manufacturing
Salary: £50-55,000 + car allowance + bonus + benefits
An exciting opportunity to effectively manage the Engineering function at site level across the factory. Delivering a full maintenance programme to achieve manufacturing KPI’s, driving business efficiency and customer service.
Our Client is seeking a high performing Site Engineering manager who is looking for a new challenge. Driving success through their people and achieving great results, the successful candidate will be based at a large scale fast pace food manufacturing site.
This particular role is at a highly successful food manufacturing organisation.
Part of the site leadership team, contributing towards wider site strategy and objectives.
Lead and implement site engineering strategy, drive improvements through Short Interval Control escalation process and use the Engineering framework to deliver continuous improvement within core maintenance systems.
Continually reduce unplanned and planned engineering downtime and slow running of the site's equipment to improve availability and performance as measured by OEE.
Provide clear and visible leadership to the engineering function in relation to lean deployment.
Lead, manage and develop the engineering and maintenance team ensuring they have the resources, skills and support required to deliver site operational objectives.
Ensure the most efficient and effective operating structure is in place partnering with the Site Operational leaders with supporting succession and development plans.
Develop and deliver engineering annual budget and productivity pipeline.
Build strategic capital plans to align with directed sourcing model and annual productivity tasks.
Plan, agree and monitor maintenance expenditure to deliver targeted levels of plant performance within budget
Manage and review succession, training and development plans to ensure an appropriate balance of internal and external skills to deliver Engineering team performance at optimum cost
Ensure engineering spares and consumables are procured and managed to maintain engineering and manufacturing requirements at minimal cost, managing a budget of c£1m for repairs/maintenance.
Ensure adequate provision of training across a range of preventative maintenance techniques to deliver engineering performance targets
Continually measure against pre agreed standards to review and drive continuous improvement
‘Own’ compliance for both statutory legislation and H&S standards at Crewe and the PDC within the Engineering team
Manage capital projects up to the value of £8m; ensuring they are adequately planned, resourced, procured, managed and implemented successfully.
Plan and control maintenance of utilities to ensure agreed availability and drive efficiency improvements within budgeted cost.
Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline
Proven leadership of maintenance or engineering function within a food manufacturing environment is essential.
Strategic thinker, with a track record of delivering performance improvements and positive behavioural changes.
Ability to deliver result, taking others with you via strong communication and influencing skills.
A technical professional with high level skills in presentation and influencing.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Track record of identifying and building technical talent.
Previous experience with major budgetary control and development of financial plans, including productivity.
Proven management experience of a maintenance team
Budget control of capital and maintenance to £3m
Apprenticeship trained and tested
Experience in dealing with external service providers, and regulatory bodies
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced changing environment whilst proven experience of objective delivery
